It’s here! The new and improved Kisau Photography website is officially live at kisau.com.
This has been a substantial refresh. Not just a visual update, but a broad reworking of how the site helps people discover, browse, and experience the work.
A More Editorial Homepage
The homepage now has a clearer editorial rhythm, stronger visual hierarchy, and a more cohesive content width across the hero, stories, services, publications, and closing sections.
The new Latest Stories section automatically highlights the three newest posts, with the most recent story taking the lead and two supporting stories following alongside it on larger screens.
The homepage also introduces a more focused Start Here section covering:
The Publications section has been curated as well, making it easier to explore selected magazine work without working through an overwhelming gallery of covers.
A Better Way to Explore the Blog
The Kisau Blog has been rebuilt to make browsing much easier.
There are now ten posts per page, along with responsive controls for:
- Search
- Browse by Year
- Browse by Category
- Browse by Topic
Years, categories, and topics now include useful post counts, while topic choices are organized dynamically to keep browsing focused. The archive also remains useful when JavaScript is unavailable.
The blog’s pagination has been redesigned with stable page addresses, First, Previous, Next, and Last controls, and nearby page numbers on desktop. Mobile visitors get a simpler Previous, Page X of Y, and Next layout.
Individual posts have also received a careful typographic and editorial pass, including improved heading order, lists, quotes, captions, subscriptions, spacing, and image presentation. The saved excerpts for the most recent posts have been refined so they better represent the actual articles.
A cleaner reusable blog-post template now provides more predictable opening, subscription, gallery, and closing sections, making future posts easier to create and maintain.
Magazine Features, Books, and Zines
The Magazine Roundup collection has been reorganized into a dedicated yearly-page structure. The 2021 through 2026 pages now share a more consistent editorial format, while the 2024 collection has been preserved with every magazine and its original order intact.
Retired and mistyped addresses now redirect to the right destinations, and the yearly pages have been refined with cleaner summaries, balanced image-and-text layouts, consistent buttons, and more intentional spacing.
The Books & Zines experience has also been improved. What’s in My Camera Bag is now a permanent Shop page rather than a dated post, with clearer collections and updated purchase paths for projects including Sixteen Tales, Prelude, and The Melbourne Portraits Project.
A More Consistent Site
Across the website, buttons, forms, subscriptions, search controls, file actions, and WordPress-generated controls now share one charcoal editorial style.
Typography has been standardized across headings, body copy, lists, captions, links, quotes, labels, and utility notes. Page mastheads now share a consistent width, corner treatment, spacing, and responsive behavior, while the homepage hero remains a distinct visual exception.
Navigation, the footer, and the visitor-facing Site Map have also been reorganized around clearer destinations including Start Here, Services, Publications, Blog, and Contact & Connect.
Stronger Mobile, Accessibility, and Discovery
The refresh also focused on the details that make the site easier to use:
- Improved mobile spacing and corrected horizontal overflow
- Better heading hierarchies and Skip to content behavior
- Clearer keyboard focus and navigation order
- Improved footer contrast and form labels
- More accessible submenu controls
- Announcements for links that intentionally open in a new tab
- More natural and useful image descriptions
- Optimized heavy images without changing their visual presentation
Behind the scenes, the site now has clearer structured information for search engines and AI-powered services, including stronger connections between Kisau Photography, Paul Tocatlian, services, locations, publications, books, products, and social profiles.
A recent example of this work is the new online experience for Optima Optometry.
This isn’t just a cosmetic refresh. Kisau.com now has a stronger editorial identity, clearer paths through the work, a more useful Blog and Magazine archive, a smoother mobile experience, and a more reliable foundation for future stories and projects.
