Earlier this summer, we had the opportunity to visit the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, a legendary estate on 127 acres located along California’s Pacific Central Coast. Carved naturally by the Pacific Ocean, the coastline in San Simeon is among the most beautiful in California, where 17,000 elephant seals migrate to the Piedras Blancas Rookery every year.
This video is a compilation of footage captured with a DJI Mavic Pro while visiting San Simeon and its surroundings, with the drone venturing out into the waters for an unforgettable flyover. I hope you’ll enjoy a glimpse of the overwhelming scale of the Pacific Coast natural beauty that is still mostly wild, open, and where you can have the scenery all to yourself.
Being my first drone video, it is perhaps too long and somewhat repetitive. Mea culpa. But the scenery was simply too captivating from a bird’s-eye view that I had a hard time deciding what footage to cut. So I didn’t! Mission impossible. Oh well… better next time.
